Dissident Tribes

Throughout the lands of Atys, dissenting homins have split away from their original civilizations forming fifty or so communities. These communities, otherwise known by the civilizations as tribes, control entire regions and continuously strive to extend their living space.

Tribes and civilizations struggle to secure vital zones in a fight for survival, consequently tribe and civilization outposts are subject to incessant sieges and raids.

Tribes of Atys: Part One

Because of the fragile balance of the forces on Atys, the enemies of today can become the allies of tomorrow and vice versa. There is no well-defined separation between black and white, and there is no stereotypical separation of the different sides, where the same sides are always either good or evil. The evolution of the political, social and environmental situation on the planet depends entirely on the interaction of the players with the world.

Some Existing Tribes

Barbarians: These tribes are composed of Homins who have escaped the influence of Karavan. They do not remember anything of their past and they have degenerated into total cruelty. They do not respect any law and they fight for their daily survival. They will trade with player civilizations or plunder their riches, according to the current balance of forces.

Outlaws: These are groups of Homins who were exiled from or fled their civilizations. They are rebels, for example Matisian princes who failed to overthrow their government. Certain groups seek to regain the power of their old civilizations, while others have given up and seek to establish a new and different society on Atys.

Pioneers: These groups left their civilizations to found an independent city.

Fanatics: Some Homins invented quasi-religions to explain the global destabilization of Atys. Some of these beliefs became dogma for these tribes, who wish to impose their faith and their vision on the rest of the world, for example the Worship of Goo.

Kamic Agents: This tribe is composed of Homins who have decided to support the side of the Kamis exclusively.

Agents of the Karavan: This tribe is composed of Homins who have decided to support the side of the Karavan exclusively.

Mercenaries: Certain groups link together Homins of various civilizations, but of the same profession. The most common of these groups are mercenary groups, who sell their services to the highest bidder. There are also groups of traders and manufacturers.

Secret societies: Some groups foment secret plans to increase their knowledge and their power, such as the Black Circle, which gathers black magicians together.

Amazons: This tribe gathers together Homin females who have developed a matriarchal society, being isolated from the conflicts of the violent ones who too often shake the planet.
